SAVE THE BAGS! is a speculative campaign concept exploring how luxury fashion could leverage Web3 technology to combat one of its most controversial industry practices: the destruction of unsold inventory.
Created as a fictional partnership between Louis Vuitton and Rebag, the campaign reimagines NFTs not as speculative hype, but as a tool for sustainability, authentication, and cultural preservation. Rather than destroying retired, damaged, or unsellable handbags to maintain exclusivity, the concept proposes transforming them into one-of-one artworks and authenticated digital collectibles.
The campaign centers around a collective of contemporary artists tasked with reconstructing discarded luxury bags into both functional and non-functional art pieces — from rebuilt handbags and sculptural furniture to fragmented installations and digital “artifact” NFTs. Each piece would be paired with blockchain-backed provenance data documenting its transformation journey from waste to collectible culture.
SAVE THE BAGS! positions NFTs as more than digital assets. In this vision, they become certificates of rescued luxury — a transparent record of material reuse, artistic intervention, and sustainable ownership.
